Coffee Underground is the coolest place in Greenville to grab a warm cup of joe! This locally-owned coffee house and café specializes in homemade desserts, delicious coffees-using beans roasted right there in the café, and all-day breakfast and lunch.
How it Began
After a vacation to the west coast, Dana Lowie and Steve Taylor wanted to bring Seattle-style coffee to the east coast! On New Year’s Eve 1991, they brought out a little cart called Pony Espresso out to satisfy party-goers with hot cocoa and mochas. After that little jump start, Steve began working the car on weekday mornings while he continued his newspaper job in the evenings. May 1st, 1996 Coffee Underground opened its doors for the first time to a lively crowd! For over 26 years, Coffee Underground has been the hot and happening coffee spot of Greenville!
Theatre Underground
The theater room at Coffee Underground has been a thriving cultural hotspot since they first opened in 1995! Each and every week, visitors can see live stand up comedy, improvisations, sketches, local songwriters, poetry and other performances from a variety of artists, all excelling in different styles of art. In addition to the weekly performances, Coffee Underground is a host to TedX Salons, independent film screenings, & comedians from all around the world.
